Preparing Your Home for a Bathroom Remodel

LTC Contracting

Before Work Begins

Remove everything from the bathroom that you can: toiletries, towels, rugs, and any décor. Empty under-sink and vanity cabinets. Your contractor will need clear access to fixtures and walls. Designate a temporary bathroom for the family if you only have one full bath; discuss timing and access with your contractor so everyone is on the same page.

Protect adjacent areas: cover flooring in hallways and nearby rooms if demolition will generate dust. Good contractors will use dust barriers, but extra protection for furniture and vents is never a bad idea.

During the Remodel

Demolition and rough-in work are the messiest phases. Expect noise, dust, and trades in and out. Establish a path for materials and debris so it doesn't damage your home. Keep kids and pets away from the work area. Your contractor should spell out the sequence (framing, plumbing, electrical, then finishes) and a rough timeline so you know when the bathroom is usable again.

Staying on the Same Page

Clear communication prevents surprises. Confirm where the crew will park, where they can use power and water, and how to reach the project manager with questions. At LTC Contracting we walk Rhode Island homeowners through each phase and keep the job site as tidy as possible so your home is ready for a smooth, professional bathroom renovation.
